1927 - 2007
Lorraine died on Sunday, Dec. 9, in the The Highlands Nursing Home in Fitchburg. She was born in Fitchburg on Sept. 8, 1927, the daughter of the late John and the late Rachael (Guillmette) Belanger. She grew up in Leominster and graduated from Leominster High School. Mrs. Simard worked in the loan department at the Leominster Savings Bank and the Worcester County National Bank and Shawmut Bank. She was a communicant of St. Cecilia’s Church. She lived in Port Charolette, Fla., for the past 10 years. She was a member of the Leominster and the Port Charlotte, Fla., Elks and the Moose Club in Port Charlotte, Fla. Lorraine loved her family dearly. She was a devoted wife, compassionate mother and a caring and loving grandmother. She took great pleasure in being a homemaker, and was an accomplished seamstress. Lorraine enjoyed people, and made many friends during the several years she worked in the load department of a number of local banks. She will be greatly missed by family and friends; however, her memory will forever warm the heart of those who knew and loved her. She leaves her husband of 59 years, J. Arthur Simard; three daughters, Andrea R. Munderloh of Westfield, Adele L. Bodanza and husband, Mark, of Leominster, Celeste A. Kandawalla of Bradington, Fla.; and one son, David A. Simard and wife, Lisa, of Leominster; one brother, Paul Belanger and wife, Cecile, of Chelmsford; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister, Theresa Poirier; and her husband, Lawrence. A memorial Mass will be held on Friday, Dec. 14, at 11 a.m. in St. Cecilia’s Church, 180 Mechanic St., Leominster. Burial will be at a later date. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in her memory to the National Stroke Association, 9707 E. MaBelle “Belle” S. Appleton, 79, of 142 Chapman Place, died Sunday morning in HealthAlliance Hospital in Leominster after an illness. The daughter of Robert S. and Doris (Cook) Appleton, Miss Appleton was born in Whitinsville on July 1, 1927. She is survived by her brother, Robert S. Appleton; two sisters, Sarah Bergeron, Barbara Rettig. She was predeceased by two sisters, Eleanor Wronski and Geraldine Marshall. She was buried in Evergreen Cemetery after cremation. |
