Ronald A. Sheldon Sr.

1944  -  2011

Ronald A. Sheldon Sr. 67 a life long Leominster resident died Sunday October 2, 2011 in Health Alliance Leominster Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 15, 1944 in Leominster; MA was the son of Frank and Raymonde (Benoit) Sheldon. After graduation, he went into the United States Navy and attained the rank of E-5, where he was a Navigator on the Naval carrier ships. Ronald worked as a facilities manager for Norton Co. in Worcester for over 30 years before retiring and most recently has been a consultant for St. Gobain Co. in Worcester. He was a member of the Leominster Sportman's Club, Masonic Temple, and enjoyed fishing, but most of all he took pride in his yard, he loved doing yard work, & also fixed and collected Toro wheel horse garden tractors. He is survived by his wife of 45 years Jean (Walker) Sheldon of Leominster, his mother Raymonde (Benoit) Sheldon, his son Ronald A. Sheldon Jr., his daughters Julie Boyle, and Deborah Sheldon, a brother Robert Sheldon, a sister Sally Belk, his grandchildren William H. Boyle IV, Brian Sheldon Boyle, Christopher Boyle and Kaileen Boyle. He was predeceased by his father Frank Sheldon.

The funeral will be held on Thursday October 6, 2011 from the Wright-Roy Funeral Home 109 West St Leominster with a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the United Methodist Church 77 Hall St. Leominster, burial with Military Honors will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Leominster. Calling hours will be Wednesday October 5, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

Dennis P. England  1944  -  2010

 

Dennis P. England, 66 of Leominster, died Saturday, November 6, 2010 in the U Mass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus, Worcester.

He was born in Leominster, on May 23, 1944, the son of the late George J. and the late Irene (St. Cyr) England.

Dennis grew up in Leominster and he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in the Navy SEAL’s (US Naval Special Warfare) he was a BUC (Builder Chief) who graduated with class 40West. He was one of two Navy SEAL’s who recovered astronaut Gordon Cooper from his Mercury Space Capsule in 1963. He worked for the Federal Government at Fort Devens for many years. He was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 28. He was a member of the Leominster Eagles and the Leominster Franco American Club.

He leaves one son, Dennis P. England, Jr. of Leominster; a step son, William Hillman of Ashburnham; two step daughters, Lori Bourque of Fitchburg; Sharon Keaton of Pollo Beach, FL; one brother George England, FL; four sisters, Leah St. Cyr of Machia, ME, Rosalie St. Germain of Treasure Island, FL, Cynthia Hazzard of Monroe, Georgia; Elaine Freeman and her husband Greg of Brandon, FL; and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his wife, Judith (Bouvier) England who died in 1993; and by two sisters Judith Rivers and Joyce Beirholm.

Burial with military honors was in St. Cecilia's Cemetery.

Gail K. (Shannon) Erickson

1944  -  2009

Gail K. (Shannon) Erickson, 65, of Lunenburg, died unexpectedly in her home on Thursday, May 20.

She was born in Leominster, on July 30, 1944 a daughter of the late, John F. and Julie (Stasukelis) Shannon. She grew up in Leominster and has since lived in Lunenburg for over 40 years. Gail was a health care provider for several private clients throughout the area. She was an avid card player and enjoyed gardening.

She leaves her daughter, Shelly A. Erickson; a brother, John "Terry" Terrance Shannon and his wife Ellen; two granddaughters, Julie Erickson and Jamie Erickson; a daughter-in-law, Laura Erickson and two nieces, Terri-Ann Milligan and Colleen Shannon. She is predeceased by two sons, Robert W. Erickson who died in 1984 and Scott J. Erickson who died in 2009.

Burial was in the St. Bernard's Cemetery in Fitchburg.

Byron "Barney" H. Wood               1942  -  2009

Byron "Barney" H. Wood, 66 years old, of Brooksville, FL, formerly of Leominster and Spencer, died Sunday, June 7, 2009 in his home after an illness. He is survived by his wife Brenda (Conner) Wood, 3 daughters, Kimberly Wood of Minnesota, Amanda Wood Brown of Florida, and Melanie of Worcester, 2 sisters, Lillian Clay of Winchendon and Nancy Keefe of Leominster, a brother David Wood of Leominster, 7 grandchildren, Lindsay Brown Gibson, Nicole Brown, Ashley Brown, Keith Brown, Jr., Brandon Heon, Peyton Roy, and Maisie Brown, and 2 great grandchildren, Xzarias Heon and Bradley Gibson.

Barney was born in Leominster, on November 15, 1942, son of Byron H. and Lillian (Ellis) Wood, Sr., and had lived in Florida the past 8 years. He graduated from Leominster High School in 1962 and had owned and operated the former Barney's Mobil Station in Leominster for many years, before retiring in 2000. He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Leominster and the Nature Coast Corvette Club in Brooksville, FL.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at 10 am in the Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West Street, Leominster. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Leominster. Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 12, 2009 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.

Marcia A. (NASH) Dykes

1943  -  2009

Marcia A. (Nash) Dykes, 65 years old, of Leominster, died in her home Friday, January 9, 2009, after an illness. She is survived by her 5 daughters, Arlene Thibodeau, Edith King, Mary Brooks, Barbara Hurley and Pamela Day, her son, Wallace Dykes, Jr., her 3 sisters, Brenda Gilmour, Gail Melanson and Karen Smith; her brother, Brian Nash and 8 grandchildren. She was predeceased by 2 brothers, Bruce Nash and Fred Nash.

Marcia was born in Leominster, on May 14, 1943, daughter of Fred and Marjorie (Ellis) Nash, and was a lifelong resident. Marcia enjoyed Bible reading with her friends, spending time with her grandchildren, and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. She had a great sense of humor.

 

Mary J. (Briscoe) Therrien

1944 - 2008

 

Mary J. (Briscoe) Therrien, 63, of 21 Old Brook Road, Leominster, died Sunday Jan. 13, 2008 in her home surrounded by her family. She was born on July 10, 1944 in Omaha, Neb., and was the daughter of Robert L. and Josephine (Urban) Briscoe.

Mary earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Worcester State College. She worked for H&R Block for 25 years starting in Leominster before becoming the assistant district manager and working in Worcester. She loved to travel and enjoyed her weekends at the campground.

She is survived by her father, Robert L. Briscoe of Lunenburg; her husband of 37 years, Raymond H. Therrien of Leominster; a son, Matthew Therrien and his wife Chaba of Easthampton; a sister, Elizabeth Raikowski of Leominster; a grandchild, Emerson Therrien; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by two children, Mark Therrien and Karen Therrien.

The funeral was be held on Thursday Jan. 17, 2008 from the Wright-Roy Funeral Home 109 West St., in Leominster, and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

 

 

Sandra P. (Hembrow) Hickey-Boissoneau

1944 - 2006

Sandra P. (Hembrow) Hickey-Boissoneau, 61, of 220 Merriam Ave., Leominster, died Sunday, Aug. 20, in HealthAlliance/Leominster Hospital. She was born on Sept. 15, 1944 in Leominster, the daughter of Robert and Margaret (Laudon) Hembrow.

After graduating from Leo’s Beauty Institute, she opened Shear Perfection, and was the owner and operator of the salon for 40 years. She was a member of St. Anna Parish in Leominster, the Leominster Art Association and Wachusett Ski Club.

Mrs. Hickey-Boissoneau is survived by her husband, Robert L. “Larry” Boissoneau, of Leominster; two sons, Dean J. Hickey of Shrewsbury and Jason T. Hickey of Palm Springs, Calif.; two daughters, Kelly A. Marciano and Bethann Hickey, both of Leominster; two stepsons, Lawrence Boissoneau of New Hampshire, and Robert Boissoneau of Leominster; a stepdaughter, Leslie Foster, of Leominster; one brother, Robert Hembrow, of Fitchburg; and 14 grandchildren.

James D. Salvi

1943 - 2006

James “Jim” D. Salvi, 62, of 4 Anthony Road, died Thursday, July 14, in his home after an illness.

Born May 26, 1943 in Leominster, he was the son of the late Europeo and Eda (Tocci) Salvi. for Digital. He also owned Salvi’s Barber Shop in Leominster with his father and continued to enjoy barbering after he sold the shop.

He is survived by Mary (Champagne) Salvi; his wife of 35 years, his children Scott Salvi and Lisa Falk of Leominster; his brother, Richard Salvi, his two sisters, Carol Serafini and Marcia Keogh, all of Leominster; his grandchildren, Caulin and Colby Falk, and Madelyn Gracie Salvi; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held July 18 at the Brandon Funeral Home and he was buried in St. Leo’s Cemetery.
